Our Traffic and Transportation committee is currently working hard to improve traffic issues in Sherman Oaks. We are working to balance the needs of our residential lifestyle with the needs of a large Metropolitan City that requires large amounts of transportation for work, business and overall lifestyle needs.

In addition SONC's important role of bringing local government to the residents and businesses of Sherman Oaks, The purpose of the Traffic and Transportation Committee is to provide the Sherman Oaks community with resources and tools for improvement of Traffic and Transportation issues. We do this by offering the following:
Options and Solutions to our Traffic Problems - Do you know the seriousness of our traffic issues? Do you know what options we have? Our community has major issues regarding traffic and transportation, which includes, the 101 and 405 freeways, the Sepulveda Pass, and other freeway alternatives. In addition, there are issues regarding bikers, users of public Transportation, and pedestrians. Our Committee will focus on outlining the problems and offering solutions and options to our Sherman Oaks stakeholders.
Communication with our Local Representatives and Agencies - Do you know who is in charge of street signs, road improvements, and public transportation? If not, let us help you with that. Getting to know local council members, and public transport agencies will help create a cohesive and engaged neighborhood. We can help you organize into blocks or areas with similar concerns, and with a cohesive voice to identify the proper channels to communicate your concerns to.
This committee meets monthly (please confirm via ShermanOaksNC.org calendar for time and location). We encourage you to join us for our meetings and at our events throughout the year. Do you want to get all agendas delivered to you? It’s easy! Go to EmpowerLA.org; click on “neighborhoods councils”, on the drop down menu choose neighborhood council agendas, choose Sherman Oaks, fill in your name and email, click “subscribe.” That’s all there is to it!
The Traffic & Transportation conducts its business by reviewing and prioritizing agenda requests for Board action (generally either in the form of a motion or letter) or announcements submitted by stakeholders, governmental entities and other interested individuals and organizations. Traffic & Transportation Committee has the discretion to postpone a request, refer it to a specific committee for review and recommendation, treat it as an announcement or consider and resolve it as a non-Board administrative matter.
