SONC encourages the city to reevaluate funding for high-expense, non-productive endeavors, rather than cutting services most accessible to residents.

SONC Opposes Council Rules Change, Censorship
Posted on 04/15/2025SONC opposes City Council's proposed rules change to prohibit certain objectionable speech during public comment. This proposed change violates both the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution and California's Brown Act for open public meeting access and will expose the city to legal liability. It also is an attack on democracy through use of authoritarian censorship to quiet constitutionally protected speech.
