Map Your Neighborhood
As we are all witnessing the devastating news that is coming out of Texas right now, we are seeing that one of the most effective methods of disaster response is residents stepping up to help. Neighbors helping neighbors is critical during disasters. Do you know your neighbors? Do you know who lives where and who knows what skills that might be helpful in a disaster situation? We'll help you put together a neighborhood disaster plan. The SONC Public Safety Committee can show you just how to do it - by using the Map Your Neighborhood tool. Contact: ksales@shermanoaksnc.org for more information. September is National Preparedness Month! This month you need to focus on creating plans for what you'd do in a disaster. You could be at home, at work, in your neighborhood, at your children's school, your community organizations...now is the perfect time to put your plan in place.

Sherman Oaks Streets Resurfaced and Potholes Repaired
Councilman David Ryu arranged the resurfacing of 53 streets in Sherman Oaks the past few months. More streets are scheduled in the next couple of months. Thanks to all who emailed to give us their favorite potholes. The Department of Street Services worked on them the end of August. Our next pothole filling event will be the end of February. We are collecting locations that need work for February 2018. In order to get right spots fixed we need the address in front of the pothole, for intersections – the names of both streets, for alleys – the names of all 4 surrounding streets. Send us the locations – we'll get the holes fixed. Go to our website www.shermanoaksnc.org; click on “Contact us”, and type in the information.
